Pamphlet ("we", "us") explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Pamphlet mobile app. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
1) What we collect
Account and sign-in: your phone number and one-time passwords (OTP) used to sign in, processed through our authentication services.
Profile: name, email address, gender, and other details you choose to provide in the app.
Email verification: when you verify your email in profile settings, we send a one-time code (OTP) to that address and process the code you enter. We do not verify email through links opened from email or app deep links.
Usage: in-app activity such as offers viewed, saved or liked items, voucher and reward (coin) events, search queries, QR redemptions, and interactions with shop or pamphlet content.
Location: when you are logged in and allow location access, approximate or precise coordinates and derived place information (such as city or area) to show nearby shops, offers, and local discovery. We do not request location permission while you are logged out or during onboarding.
Device and diagnostics: device type, operating system, app version, and basic technical logs to keep the app reliable and secure.
Camera: only when you actively use features that require it (for example scanning a QR code to redeem an offer). Images are used for that action only and are not accessed in the background.
2) How we use your information
We use this data to provide and personalise the app (home, search, shop pages, offers, updates, earn-coins and coin balance, vouchers, and notifications you opt into), prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms, improve performance, and communicate service-related messages.
3) Legal basis
We process personal data as needed to perform our contract with you, comply with law, and pursue legitimate interests (such as security and product improvement), in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 (as applicable), and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its rules, as they apply to our operations.
4) Sharing
We may share data with service providers who help us run the app (e.g. hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting) under appropriate agreements. Shop and offer content is provided by businesses on the platform; we do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
5) Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. You may request deletion of your account subject to legal and operational limits.
6) Device permissions
The app may request the following permissions on your device. You can change or revoke optional permissions in system settings at any time.
Internet: required for sign-in, loading content, and syncing your account.
Location (precise and approximate): optional; requested only after you are logged in, for nearby offers and discovery.
Camera: optional; used only when you scan a QR code or use similar in-app features.
We do not register the app to open email verification links or custom app URL schemes for account verification.
7) External apps and links
If you tap directions, a shop website, or similar actions, Pamphlet may open your browser, maps app, or phone dialer. Those services are operated by third parties and have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for how they handle your information.
8) Local data on your device
We may store session data, preferences, and a cached last-known location on your device to improve performance. Android backup for this app is disabled, so uninstalling the app or clearing its storage may remove locally stored data. Signing out clears certain cached data such as saved location used for your session.
9) Your choices and rights
You can update profile details in the app, verify email using OTP, control location and notification permissions in device settings, and sign out to end your session. Contact us to access, correct, or ask questions about your data, including rights available under applicable Indian privacy law.
10) Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
11) Account deletion
You can permanently delete your Pamphlet account in the app: Profile → Delete account, then confirm. This cannot be undone.
When deletion completes, we delete your profile and sign-in identity, all user actions linked to your account (likes, saves, claims, redeems, ratings, and similar activity), and server-stored location tied to your profile. You are signed out automatically.
Some data may remain for a limited time in encrypted backups, or where we must keep records for legal or security reasons, as described on our Account deletion page. Local data on your device may remain until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
If you cannot use the app, email info@mypamphlet.in with the subject Account deletion request and the phone number on your account.
12) Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
13) Changes
We may update this policy and will adjust the "Last updated" date or notify you as appropriate. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
